Presidents Address for Season 2009-10

E-mail Print PDF

On behalf of Lisarow Ourimbah Cricket Club I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back to the club all our old players and offer an invitation to new players to become a “magpie “ for the 2009/10 season.

The club has made a number of changes to their set up since last year and it is the start of a very exciting year from our perspective.

Firstly, we have appointed Brian Rhodes as club coach. Brian brings a wealth of knowledge to this position having been our coach in the 2005/6 and 2005/7 seasons. Brian played for Wests in the Sydney grade competition and also represented NSW at Sheffield Shield level so we look forward to his expertise, guidance and knowledge this year.

Secondly, we have appointed Darren “ Buster “ Bates as first grade captain. This is a very important decision and we look forward to Buster, Brian and Eugene Simpson ( in a managerial role ) bringing stability and success to the team.

As you would have noticed we also have a new web page which is very exciting in it’s set up and what it offers members. For this we have David Soede to thank. I know that David has worked very hard at establishing this site so I would ask members to make use of the site. Please register so you can access our forums (be patient as each registration needs to be verified by David first so we can ensure it's a "Magpies Only" zone).

As I said at the beginning this is the start of a very exciting season from a club point of view. Although the club has had considerable success in the lower grades and has won the club championship 5 out of the last 6 years, major success in 1st grade has eluded us however we have put a number of initiatives in place for this year which  I feel will rectify this situation.

We are also looking for lower grade captains so if you want to nominate please forward you nomination to our Secretary, Matt Ball.

The club is also proud to announce that Ourimbah Lisarow RSL has again agreed to be our major sponsor for this season.

I would ask all members to get to training and prepare well for the coming year. If you know anyone who wants a game invite them along as one thing our club has always endeavoured to do is to welcome any new players to the fold.

I look forward to catching up with everyone at training and wish every player a successful season.

Paul Deaves
President

Welcome to the new cricket season 2009/10 at Lisarow Ourimbah Cricket Club, and welcome to our new web site. We are continuing to work hard to develop the site and add more features, more content and improve the way we collaborate with sponsors, officials and most importantly, you - the magpies players. Help us improve your club by using this website frequently, by giving us feedback and by becoming involved in the running of the club and this website. Check out the player profiles, get updated draws, find team selections, pay your fees, contribute in the forums, watch the coaching clinic videos, get the latest stats, read the match reports and find you or a team mate in the photo and video galleries. It's fresh, it's exciting, it's powerful and it's for all magpies and friends - we look forward to a great 2009/10 season of cricket!
